The kitchen of an attached ADU in View Ridge, Seattle: navy shaker cabinets and quartz under a skylight, a farmhouse apron sink with a pot filler over a marble-hex backsplash, and a dining side that opens to the patio through French doors.

The View Ridge ADU was built as a second income: two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen and a private entrance in 854 sq ft. The kitchen is what makes a unit feel like a home rather than a suite, so it got full-size appliances and real storage.
It was built in three stages inside the addition — framing, a drywall gray-box, then the finished kitchen — and inspected under the Seattle SDCI permit: navy shaker cabinets, quartz counters, a farmhouse apron sink with a pot filler, a marble-hex backsplash and a skylight overhead.

Navy shaker cabinets run to the ceiling with brass hardware, under white quartz. A farmhouse apron sink with a brass faucet sits under a window, over a marble-hex backsplash; a stainless range, a microwave and a full-size refrigerator make it a kitchen you can cook in every day.

The same room in three stages: open framing with the rough-in visible, a drywall gray-box ready for cabinets, and then the finished kitchen. Every stage was inspected under the Seattle SDCI permit before the next one started.

The kitchen walls and the skylight opening framed together with the rest of the new unit.

Walls closed and finished, the skylight trimmed out, the room ready for cabinets.

The kitchen came to $41,870 of the $310,000 ADU contract; the two bathrooms were $27,960 and $23,480. Here is where the $41,870 went.
